Agriculture is a relevant part of living in Zagvozd.
When we were children, we hated it. Sometimes it was boring, sometimes it was difficult, but mostly I wanted to be anywhere else :). Today I enjoy spending time in the garden with my family and follow the progress and growth of our vegetables. Springtime is season full of vibrant sounds covering the air in our village. Life moves from inside of the house to outside in nature. This type of living is custom to this area and people have been living this way for a long time. The tradition passes from one generation to another.
We wanted to extend that tradition to our campsite. Every year we grow vegetables in our garden, practising old farming way from Zgavozd. We grow vegetables from organic vegetable seedlings and natural manoeuvre for the garden. Our guests pick up vegetables for breakfast, lunch or dinner often eating it directly from the ground (carrots).
But we do have few rules for garden usage. Do not pick up all vegetables you see, pick some for your meal and leave some for others because Sharing IS caring. Try not to pull the plant from the ground hard, be gentle.
We also make our rakija and wine and all of our guests get to taste some ;). Our guests are welcome to join us and watch us making rakija and wine.
